TikTok video specs and requirements
The short vertical video app, increasingly used to show off apps and tools.
What it is
TikTok is built around full-screen vertical video. Quick demos, ‘one useful trick’ clips and before/after comparisons tend to do well there.
What it expects from a video
- Videos are vertical, 9:16.
- TikTok has changed its maximum upload length several times. The preset assumes up to 10 minutes; check the app if you are posting something long.

Tips for product demos
- Recordcake fits a landscape recording into the vertical frame with padding. For TikTok, recording a narrower window or area makes the app appear larger.
- Hook viewers in the first second or two.
