Get in touch

Email recordcake@xeviora.com and a human will answer, usually within two business days. Telling us your macOS version, which preset you were exporting and what happened makes it much faster.

Recordcake says it has no Screen Recording permission, but I already turned it on

macOS only applies that permission when the app restarts. That step is easy to miss:

  • Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording.
  • Turn on Recordcake.
  • Quit Recordcake and open it again — the permission does nothing until you do.

Where do my recordings and exports go?

Recordings are saved in the Recordcake folder inside Movies. The Library shows that folder as it is, so anything you rename or delete in the Finder is reflected immediately. Exports are saved next to the recording, named <recording>.<preset>.<extension>, unless you choose another folder in Settings › Export.

A platform rejected the file

Open the platform's page under Platforms and compare its current limits with the preset. Platforms change their rules from time to time; if the official page says something different from the preset, email us the link and we will update it.

Keystrokes do not show up in the recording

Showing keys needs the Accessibility permission. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn on Recordcake. Without it, Recordcake quietly skips keystrokes and everything else records normally.

Requirements

  • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later.
  • Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
  • Screen Recording permission. Microphone, Camera and Accessibility are optional and only asked for when you turn on the matching feature.

Restoring your Pro purchase

Recordcake Pro is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple Account. On a new Mac, install Recordcake and choose Recordcake › Restore Purchases in the menu bar (also in Settings › General). If nothing is found, check that the App Store is signed in with the same Apple Account you bought Pro with.

Refunds
